How Proof-readers Keep Your Style

I know my clients' writing styles better than what they look like!

Most of the time after an initial online meeting (although not always with cameras on) our relationship is over email, Whatsapp and Dropbox. It is a relationship of words - texts, emails and reports.

It means I get to know their writing styles incredibly well.

If you were to give me a report from one of my Case Managers with all details removed I would know who it is within seconds just from how they formulate their sentences, how they like to use bullet points, the terminology that is part of their own idiolect, and lots of other details that makes their work theirs.

Using a proofer means you keep your own voice and style, I am just a safety net for accuracy and for those fiddly jobs you don’t want to have to think about.

“Cathy please make this bit look better.”

“Cathy please make this make sense."

“Cathy can you make this table do what it should do."

The same goes for all types of writing, a good proofer will read and be making assessments about how you like to structure your sentences, the tone you use, your favourite phrases, all of it.

We make adjustments and changes in line with how you like to sound.

We don't take away from your voice, we add accuracy and consistency.
